Lennox - why we'll never forget you

The Barnes family were told Lennox was to be killed at 7am this morning - yet four hours later the council still hadn't confirmed that the execution had took place.
Could Belfast City Council be any more cruel?
Here's the general press statement they issued:

"Belfast City Council confirmed today that the dog Lennox, an illegal pit-bull terrier type, has been humanely put to sleep. This was in accordance with the Order of the County Court which was affirmed by the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal. Whilst there is an exemption scheme to which dogs of this type (pit-bull terrier type) may be admitted as an alternative to destruction, there were no such measures that could be applied in this case that would address the concerns relating to public safety. The Council’s expert described the dog as one of the most unpredictable and dangerous dogs he had come across. Over the past two years, Council officials have been subjected to a sustained campaign of abuse including threats of violence and death threats. The Council has been in ongoing contact with the PSNI in relation to that. The Council regrets that the court action was necessary but would emphasise that the safety of the public remains its key priority."

We have five pages on the Lennox case in the August issue out tomorrow. We show that Belfast City Council refused all approaches for a solution that could have given Lennox one last independent assessment from a world expert, Jim Crosby, who has assessed 30 dogs that have actually killed people rather than just looked like Pit Bulls. Victoria Stilwell had a plan in place to remove Lennox from Northern Ireland, but these offers were not even considered.

Even the handling of Lennox's execution has been extremely poor.

And is Lennox really such a danger to society that his body can't now be released to his owners for burial?
It's true that passions have run very high in this case, but if you kill an innocent member of someone's family there will be anger and outrage - and every dog lover on the planet can feel that today.
If one or two people have expressed it to individuals who are probably just pawns in this too is a mater for regret.
It is the flawed law and the Council that should bare the guilt and shame.
RIP Lennox. You're in a place now where people hopefully don't judge you on appearance.
I'm sure dog expert Jim Crosby would be able to educate Belfast City Council as what "the most unpredictable and dangerous dogs he had come across" were. And I suspect they are dogs that have actually damaged people. Does the above press statement mean that no one has ever been bitten by a dog in Belfast?
For the record one last time.
No one had ever complained about Lennox.
No one was ever bitten by Lennox.

Let's vow to take some of our emotions on this terrible day and use them to try to change the world so this never happens again. Please write some words about Lennox  and why dogs generally deserve better. Here's my personal thoughts, please do add yours, too...

We may never hear precisely when Belfast City Council killed Lennox and who took the shilling to do it.
The poor dog was guilty until proven innocent as soon as a tape measure decided he was a Pit Bull and then he lost all rights to normal justice.

Illustration by Kevin Brockbank, August 2012 Dogs Today

No visiting rights. Unlike a human on death row, no chance to say goodbye. Locked up for two years away from his family. Not even to be returned to them in death - they were just offered some ashes in the post.
The world has looked on in disbelief and horror.
Victoria Stilwell has been totally magnificent in this crisis and she is still there in Belfast - still fighting for justice until all hope is gone. Expert witness the amazing Sarah Fisher and her husband actor Anthony Head were also at the candlelight vigil for Lennox in Belfast last night and if hopes and prayers could change fate, dog lovers around the world would have given Lennox the miracle he needed.
But despite the most logical clemency pleas that could have saved Belfast's reputation, the Council seemed hell-bent on killing a dog who has never hurt anyone.
We've got five pages on this story in our August issue. Lennox will be a martyr, much more dangerous to the reputation of the judicial system in death than he ever was to the general public while alive.
Breed Specific Legislation is legal prejudice and deserves no place on the statute books of a civilised nation. We'd not agree to racial profiling to label all foreigners with certain physical qualities as terrorists or accept a law that measures a person's biceps to decide if they're likely to be violent in the future.
Looks in this case can kill and it's the innocent that are dying.
Let's fight on together to get rid of pointless laws that don't protect the public and result in dogs like Lennox being posted home in the mail to a family who fought so hard to save their best friend.
RIP Lennox, we'll never forget you and why you died.

Please leave your tribute to Lennox below in the comments section. A virtual book of memories that shows the world we'll never forget.

I read about Lennox's story and although I am against dangerous dogs being on the street, terrorising our dogs, children and us, it was plain to see that Lennox was a well looked after and well trained dog.
He reminded me of my Labrador who is now just over a year old, I would feel terrible if this happened to him.
Also the way that BCC has dealt with this is awful, the time it has taken, Lennox must have felt so alone all this time.
Shame on BCC.

Run free at the Rainbow Bridge Lennox. I don't think I truly understood the impact of this dreadful law. One image I saw brought it home to me. I stood at the kitchen window in Lennox's home and looked out into the back garden to see a sweet little boxer dog sitting staring at a wall. I asked why she did that and was told she has only done that since Lennox went away. Every other moment she is bouncy and happy but every so often she remembers and is sad. She came back into the kitchen and sat with her head in my lap. I buried my face in the top of her head while the tears ran down my face. This law kills and leaves devastation behind for everyone caught up in it. She missed him. I am sorry for what humans have done but I will do everything I can to stop this law forever. I will never forget you Lennox.

Lennox, a name synonymous now with Breed Specific Legislation, we have all watched the story unfold, he has touched millions of people worldwide, through him we have learned the appalling reality of BSL, the totally irrational way of deciding what is construed as a Dangerous dog by a few measurements.

They say that the 'experts' use the APBT (American Pitbull Terrier networks)confirmation and characteristics as guidelines for deciding type, but it seems they only pick the bits that are negative, yet it states;

"This breed is eager to please and brimming over with enthusiasm. APBTs make excellent family companions and have always been noted for their love of children.".

I hope to God that something postive will come out of all of this, BSL has to be taken off the Law books, we must fight for change or Lennox wont be the last dog we see fighting for his life.

I think this sums it up for all dogs;

The Canine Bill of Rights
I have the right to give and receive unconditional love.
I have the right to a life that is beyond mere survival.
I have the right to be trained so I do not become the prisoner of my own misbehavior.
I have the right to adequate food and medical care.
I have the right to socialize with people and dogs outside of my family.
I have the right to have my needs and wants respected.
I have the right to special time with my people.
I have the right to only be bred responsibly - if not at all.
I have the right to some time and space all my own.
I have the right to be foolish and silly, and to make my person laugh.
I have the right to earn my person's trust and to be trusted in return.
I have the right to be forgiven.
I have the right to die with dignity.

I hope that someone bring them to court for animal cruelty! I feel SO angry. It is murder and there should be an end to the archaic bsl laws and laws need changing I hope that those responsible will one day feel guilt and realise what they have done. It's a terrible day for animal welfare - it highlights people's ignorance & cruelty and how important it is to keep on fighting for our "best friends" who are sentient beings that deserve our respect, love and a voice to protect them from suffering!
Unknown said…
From the moment I started following Lennox's plight I honestly thought the courts would throw the case out because of the council's mistakes. I also believed that the expert assessments of professional canine behaviourists would trump the council wardens' claims that Lennox was dangerous and unpredictable. Two years later I am sat here numb with shock and anger, unable to comprehend the sheer lack of humanity of Belfast City Council workers. Not only has a law abiding, responsible family been robbed of a beloved pet, but an innocent dog has suffered and lost his life for nothing other than resembling a pit bull. Is Belfast any safer now that Lennox is gone? Absolutely not. Lennox's seizure has done nothing to tackle irresponsible and/or abusive dog ownership. This is the ultimate failing of Breed Specific Legislation: it presumes guilt and persecutes the innocent while ignorant, irresponsible owners continue to overbreed and mistreat dogs. The council will never admit their mistakes, but equally they will never be trusted. Lennox is a martyr and a symbol of our struggle to fight corrupt laws that bring so much suffering and misery to innocent dogs and their owners.
Lennox I know you never wanted to be a famous martyr. You wanted to be there with your family and little girl. Sorry your innocent being was caged and treated worse then most hardened criminals. You fly over that bridge and know your loved and cherished worldwide. Sorry those pathetic excuses of people wo t let you see your family first. You won't see those mean people again. They don't go where we go. Love ya

So disillusioned, angered and saddened by the outcome for this gorgeous boy, we will never forget and Lennox has been the catalyst for a more widespread understanding of the cruelty and unfairness of the DDA and Breed Specific Legislation. He is not the only casualty. My heart is heavy and from as far away as I am, I have been deeply affected by his plight and that of those who loved and shared their lives with him. I, for one, will continue to stand against the law that made his murder possible. Run free Lennox, over the rainbow bridge xxx

I got a little lost somewhere in the middle, but I take it no one outside of the Belfast Council has seen Lennox in the flesh since he was taken? I've seen some grainy photos showing a hair loss / skin problem, and one with, and one without a docked tail... I'm just wondering if theirs a little more to this story than Belfast CC are prepared to admit to?

I keep wanting to write something meaningful and I fear I just do not have the words. Through tears, all I can say is; Lennox, I am sorry. I'm so sorry that you had to see the most disgusting, black hearted side to the human race. I am, however, truly grateful for the loving family you grew up with and the joy you were once able to experience. You may not know it, but you have so much more love than you could have ever asked for and I wish you could have seen it all.

If I am hurting as much as I am, I can not fathom what his family is going through and I hope the support of the world can carry them through it. I'm so dreadfully sorry that you had to watch your son, brother, and friend go through this and leave this world the way that he did. He knows you love him, and he will be there waiting when it's your time to meet again.

Much love.

There is something very wrong with all of this. I believe in my heart that Belfast City Council murdered Lennox a long time ago, maybe even before the first court appeal. The whole way this case has been handled is a joke. Not one of the judges ever called for Lennox to be brought to court so his demeanour could be judged first hand. They handed down a death sentence with out thought or care. I tell you it all stinks to high heaven. But remember BCC the wheel is slow but it is very sure, the truth will come out because ye are bound to have a big mouth working for ye that will spill the bean's. The world will continue to wait. Shame on you!!!

I am in tears reading the tributes to a wonderful family and their beautiful dog who was a danger to nobody. I will continue to sign petitions against BSL because although I don't have a restricted breed myself, I believe that all dogs have the right to a good life and I don't believe in bad dogs only bad owners. I believe there has been a conspiracy to cover up something awful that's happened to Lennox. There is no other reason why nobody is allowed see him before he's murdered or why the council won't return his body for burial. My thoughts and prayers are with the Barnes family at this time. I will never forget Lennox and I know that he's in a better place now and hopefully knows how many people fought for his right to life xxx

They say you have been put to sleep. Perhaps "put to rest" would be a better way to phrase it - incarcerated in a kennel for over two years, you could never have known how hard your family were fighting for you on the outside, or how many friends and supporters you had.

You must have wondered what you'd done wrong, and if you'd ever run free or see your family again.

You are released from that prison to the Rainbow Bridge. RIP Lennox.

It's one thing for future serial killers to abuse and murder innocent (though never to be condoned in any sense); it's quite another for the elected and appointed government officials in a civilized country to do so in the name of an antiquated law. It makes me ashamed, once again, to be part of the human race and to wonder why the words "human" and "humane" have any similarity at all in print when they have so little in deed. RIP, sweet Lennox, and may you and your family finally be at peace.

I suspect that the belfast City Council are delaying the announcement as the 12th and 13th July are public bank holidays in Northern Ireland, and they must be hoping that an announcement late on today will mean that when they come back after their break that all of this will have gone away.

They are misguided in the belief that this will go away, Belfast will never be able to call itself an animal loving city ever again.

If they have indeed killed Lennox he will shine as a beacon forever more and his treatment at the hands of a dog loving nation will go down in history.

To Lennox I am sorry that your last few years of life were spent in a place where you did not know love. Know that you were loved by a whole world full of people who supported you to the bitter end. You will not die in vain and we will never forget you.

Dear Lennox,

You have touched the hearts of millions around the world, and we shall never forget you.

Your story has exposed the raw inhumanity of human beings blinded by ignorance, that causes them to hurt others, both human and animal.

You have opened many people's eyes to the stupidity of judging the character of man or beast by their looks, and to the dangers of following rules no matter how ridiculous they are, even though they have been shown to be so.

Hundreds of thousands of people have stood up for you, and for justice. That is a big thing, and we all thank you for that.

Your spirit is now free from your tortured body, but it lives on in the hearts of your family, and all those people you have never met, but you know (as all dogs know)that they are your best friends.

With love,

Richard

No justice for Lennox, a dog taken from his family, imprisoned and killed. Even when people are excuted, they are allowed a goodbye visit, their family get their body to bury, it helps with the grieving process. Shame on BCC, their judgement day will come, if not on in this world in the next. All dog owners need to fight this dangerous dog act, any breed can be placed on it, and your dog could be next. We will keep fighting for Justice for all dogs, if Lennox was a person, this would be discrimination!!!

Everyone makes mistakes but it's how you then correct them that matters, it appears way too many people refused to admit their mistake which lead to the death of a dog who's crime was no more than to look similar to a dangerous dog!?. Whatever happened to needing proof?
The people involved in this should be ashamed.

This is just so sad, unfair and unjust. There has been no justice here, just waste - a waste of time, money and a life.

If you are really gone, Lennox, then at least you are free of the terrible conditions you have been kept in for the past 2 years - being kept away from your family, from those who love you dearly.

Breed Specific Legislation is just a waste of time, tax payers' money, and lives. It needs to end. We need a Responsible Dog Owners Act, not a Dangerous Dogs Act. We need the emphasis to be put onto those who cause their dogs to be a risk to others.

Lennox was not a dangerous dog, so who was being protected by his removal and destruction?

Having worked many years in a senior position in a large Local Authority (but now running a pub!) I am able to look at local Councils much more dispassionately, and I am afraid nothing they do surprises me anymore. When you are within an organisation such as this there is an unspoken air of being completely and utterly in charge and high handedness rules. You are invincible and unaccountable!

However, I am sure even they will be unprepared for the backlash of feeling that will undoubtedly follow this travesty of human nature and justice. Had this dog savaged someone then the outcome was right to be that he was put down - but he didn't. Not only that, there was a plan to 're-patriate' him to a home outside of this country!

He in my humble opinion did not deserve this death sentence, the Council have behaved in an appallingly shoddy and insensitive, inhumane manner.

The world will NOT mourn hiom, because frankly most people won't give a shit! But dog lovers will be sad that a little being has been sacrificed on the cross of administration and the stroke of some pen pushers pen - we can only hope that the seconds it took him to die were swift and painfree.

What can be done is that there should be far more stringent rules for owning animals in particular the dogs with a supposedly 'bad name' - as with children and their behaviour it is not the dogs, but the owners who are so poor at looking after them!

Heartbroken for Lennox and the Barnes family; grateful for the compassion and unrelenting efforts of the 200,000+ people, especially Victoria Stilwell and other celebrity animal activists who brought attention to Lennox's plight; hopeful that Lennox's death will not be in vain, but rather a call to action against BSL across the globe. He is the face of BSL injustice. Praying Lennox is watching from above and sees how many people loved him and fought tirelessly to bring him his god-given right to freedom. Rest in peace, angel boy Lennox. You're free now.

There are no words to describe what I'm feeling. Mad, sad, angry. This should have never happened. Someone at work this morning asked me why I was crying, and I told them, they didn't really say anything, but I could tell they thought I was overreacting. Overreacting? No! Better to have a wounded heart, a hurting heart then to feel for nothing care for nothing! "Lennox, we love you forever, run free now, we will never ever forget you.

If you were human then Belfast CC would be called racist and this wouldn't have been allowed to happen. Run free now gorgeous boy, we will never forget or stop loving you.

This is such a sad day. As I hug my dogs this morning I just can not imagine what his family must be feeling. If my own heart is breaking so much and I never even knew him personally, how much more can his own family be hurting. I look at his pictures and see only a sweet precious boy who lost his life because of the way he looked. He was so beautiful and did not deserve this.I will always love you Lennox. I know you are there at the rainbow Bridge running and playing in the sun and the lush green grass with all those that went before you. I have many there. Please tell them Mommy loves them. Be happy Lennox. You will see your family again.

The first thing I did when I woke up this morning was check to see the fate of Lennox. When I saw the tragic news, I started to cry. Immediately, my dog (a rescue) came to my side and started to nuzzle me in an attempt to dry my eyes. Dogs are so special, they deserve so much better. Thank you so much Victoria Stilwell and every person who attempted to rescue Lennox. We need more people like you. My heart goes out to his family.

When I was at school I was taught about the Nazis and how people were butchered due to the way they looked. I found this disgraceful. I have to say that breed standard legislation reminds me of this so much. The people enforcing it clearly do not look at the dog and it's personality, nor the people who love it and will be affected by it's removal, such as young children who call it their best friend. The people who enforce it look at the colour of the coat, the shape of the body and decide whether or not the animal should live. Now to me, the very idea of putting animals to sleep for something like that is ridiculous considering that even if a person is suffering and in immense pain we are not allowed to relieve them but we can relieve animals. Do we as humans, honestly believe that we have the right to make these choices? Before we learned to talk and create laws and politics, nature decided who lived and died, why have we now decided we are capable of this choice as well? For those who have forgotten, let me remind you that when you strip humans down we are mammals, animals. Nothing more, just because we have evolved into something that works for us does not make us any mightier. Lennox was not just an animal or a dog. He was a child's pet, he was part of a family, he was a best friend, a confident, a protector, a playmate, someone to cuddle on sad days and run round the park with on happy days. He was loved and in killing him you may have just broken millions of hearts, as people can relate to love a lot more than they can to brutal acts. My sympathies are, and always will be, with his family. "A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself." -Billings Others like me will agree and I for one cannot stand breed standard legislation and only hope that Lennox's journey is a wake up call to all, you never know which breed will be on the list next.

I don't really have the appropriate words, and even though it will never do him or his plight justice I will say what's on my mind. I believe Lennox was either killed long ago or in such bad shape that it would do them more harm to let the world see him than to kill him; there is no othet explanation for them not even giving his body to the family; do they think he's gonna come back from the dead and maul someone. No they did something and are trying to cover it up THAT is what this is about; think about it no one can figure out what they did if they give the family his ashes, that is if the ashes are even his. Either way I would say to anyone in Belfast or Ireland or any place with a DDA or BSL law who has a dog, "please get out lest someone measure your dog, decide it's dangerous, take it from you, torture it for however long, then murder it". If bad people decide they like some other 'type' of dog and start raising that 'type' to be aggressive then it will be that 'type' next. Furthermore I would like to point out, as I know many already have, that this is racism, pure and simple. Please everyone don't stop fighting there are so many other dogs going through this Lennox caught the worlds attention, but he is not by any means the only one, and all the others are just as deserving as Lennox. We must not give up this fight; Lennox must be remembered, and that means doing whatever we must for however long it takes to stop this for good. Also people should be aware that this is not the only way in which animals are wronged there is many ways animal testing, kill shelters, puppy mills, and circuses just to name a few; believe me there is almost no end to the ways that man finds to torture or torment his fellow being. Just had to put that out there I sincerely did not mean to shift the attention from Lennox. Oh yes I would also like to address those of you who say this would be just if he had hurt someone: above I equated this to racism. I think a dog attacking someone should be equated with a human attacking someone. Do we kill people when they attack someone? No we do not; we put them somewhere in hopes that they will be rehabilitated (how we hope to achieve that in the environment that a jail provides is beyond me, but that is for another time) I don't see how anyone thinks we shouldn't afford an animal the same common decency; especially since they are almost always, if not always, (in my opinion always, but either way) innocent. Not to mention the fact that the irresponsible owners/breeders, who cause the dogs to be aggressive and attack, aren't killed quite to the contrary they get "a slap on the wrist" as they say. So even if Lennox had attacked someone this would not be Ok or just or anything of the sort. However I do stress the fact that he didn't do anything to anyone, which just adds to my earlier stated belief that they are trying to cover up something they did.

To the family: I am truly sorry for what you have been through, and will continue to go through, thank you for fighting as long and hard as you did.

To Lennox: I hope you aren't somehow still alive being tortured somewhere; you will forever be in my heart and in the hearts of many who fought so hard to save you; we will continue this fight so your 'type' and all 'types' will hopefully, one day, be able to live without fear of breed or ' type' discrimination. May you be in the loving arms of your humans again some day. Have fun with Tony and all the other victims of human cruelty. Gone too soon

A sad and depressing outcome after a passionate, determined effort by so many people to try and save Lennox. Belfast City Council has shown itself to be totally arrogant when it could easily have shown some humanity and taken up the offers to rehome Lennox. BSL needs serious re-examination before another much-loved pet dog and it's owners are subjected to the cruelty and injustice that Lennox and his owners were. RIP Lennox, just wish so much that we could have helped to save you.

What a sad end for Lennox, while I hoped and prayed his life would be spared something always told me that the council were hell bent on destroying him. His fate was sealed on that May day he was taken from his family. His owner Caroline Barnes started a world wide campaign to have her family dog returned to her and to highlight the cruel unjust BSL. Victoria Stillwell worked so hard to save Lennox and her tireless campaign has own her many many admirers. The whole saga stinks, tghe council is corrupt, they have treated the Barnes family in a despicable manner. Dog lovers around the world are horrified at the actions of belfast city council. Dear Lennox you did not deserve the cruel treatment that was meted out to you. Stolen from your family, held in a concrete pen, stressed and alone. So dangerous your poor little body could not be returned to your home. I hope you are at peace and somehow somewhere you feel the love that surrounds you, you were precious in life and will be an inspiration in death in the hope to end the cruel law that took your life away.

It is tragic that a much-beloved creature who appears to have done no harm should be treated in this way. To the outsider, it appears that Lennox was treated in a way in which no animal should be treated, whatever the supposed justice or injustice of the outcome.
For Lennox's sake and for the sake of the poor Barnes family, we need truth. We also need to look again at the legislation to examine it for fitness for purpose.
Tragically, nothing can bring Lennox back and my sympathies are with the Barnes family. I hope the mass expression of grief has brought some comfort to a badly-tortured family.
The process by which this tragic incident unfolded should be the subject of official scrutiny. If the BCC and all involved in Lennox's last two years are innocent of any wrongdoing, let's show the world and clear their names. If not, let them be answerable. These are public servants who should be 100% transparent.

It is my humble opinion that an official petition to end with breed discrimination should be presented to not only Belfast but to all the Northern Ireland. There is one running around which is great, with the better intentions but not Belfast or NI is mentioned specifically. There must have been more "Lennoxes" killed in shelters before.... To present a proposition, it most be done the right way, through the appropriate chanels & it must specified what it is about, details and to whom is directed. There is a petition running around directed to the whole world, full of love but that will be diluted in time because it is addressing no one on the text and in any case, not one country only could take decisions for other countries. - Different thing is that NI is a member of the EU, that the EU embraced the " LISBON TREATISE" and that through the relations of it's animal related intitutions, groups, vet Assocs, vet universities, labs for animal produtcs , animal products manufacturers & by joining institutions like the OIE, WSPA, FECAVA, BVA, FVE, WSAVA, WTO,WHO and a long etc.... are compromised and enthusiastic to achieve the status of WELFARE for ALL the animals and people in the world. It is not our idea, it is -their- idea and it is already in action. When the problem of Romania, the EU said that they could not interfere, that some countries have their own laws etc..... Today euthanasia is unconstitutional in Romania. After that, changing in the farm animal policies that were said would not change, are changing thanks to the ideals and compromises of the EU and the will of the citizens(under a democratic status)that do not want cruelty or vicious killing of animals in the union.

Or it is a union or it is not, or NI is compliant with the ideals and purposes of the union regarding welfare towards animals or it is not, or the WELFARE PURPOSE is real or it is not.

It takes a real coward to determine the final outcome of this very sad and immoral case. Better to save face than to admit you were wrong eh BCC?
Your actions has caused so much pain for poor Lennoxs family, worldwide outrage in the general public and shown the true colours of all those who sat around the table and pulled the plug! To you Lennox was just a dog. To others he was a family member, a friend to the Boxer who now pines for him. Much better you had targeted the animals that are still out there breeding dogs for fighting etc. There was never any proof of Lennox hurting anybody. Why? Because he hadn't. That poor animal was being looked after in appalling conditions whilst in your care.
What's goes around comes around. May you never be judged the why poor Lennox was judged, without a care but with pure prejduice. Hang your heads in shame, this was a pointless and senseless killing.
To the family, my heart felt sympathy. To poor Lennox, may you now rest in peace puppy, god bless

You did nothing wrong. You were a good, good boy.To think of how they shut you away and left you confused and lonely, and allowed you to become unwell, eventually taking your life in one way or another...I want to say sorry that some people thought that it was acceptable to bring such misery to a fine, beautiful dog. I will think of you forever, Lennox. I hope that you are truly free and running in fields with lots of other good dogs, without fear or pain or loneliness. So many of us send our love to you always. xxx

I prayed so hard for you, Sweet Len. Every day, I had Faith that God would save you and bring you home to your family. I love you so much and will visit you @ Rainbow Bridge someday. Meanwhile, play with my dogs and cats, make friends with them. Love & Hugs....

Lennox, I am so very sorry you were used as a scapegoat for demented persons for their own personal agenda. I am so sorry that your family could not be with you in your last moments here on earth, nor at least have your earthly body to bury with honor and distinction. However I know you are at the Rainbow Bridge now, so run free in the green, green grass and be happy. One day in the future you and your family will be reunited, and such joy will be shared between you all.
I pray that what you suffered will come around and bite those that comdemned you in their snobby, nasty butts and you and your family will have justice. I also pray that they all loose their employment and that no other pets are treated with such disrespect and disdain as you suffered.
You may be gone from this earth, but you will never be forgotten.

Lennox you will be missed and never forgotten. I have been crying nonstop since they killed Lennox and for what? He wasn't a pill bull and not a pit bull mix or type so why did they do this to him? I hope Lennox's family will sue the BCC for wrongful death because so many of us would do the same thing if their dog was taken from their home. Lennox had a loving home and family and millions of dogs in this world do not have a home so why would you take an innocent dog from a loving family? I hope the BCC has a direct ticket to hell because they definitely will be there soon when all the videos come out in the next couple of days showing that Lennox was a very good and well behaved dog and there was no need to kill him. RIP Lennox. Justice will prevail!!!!

Lennox you will be missed and never forgotten. I wish the BCC will get what is coming to them for lying. Millions of dogs around the world have no homes and are killed each year but Lennox had a loving home and family and he wasn't a pitbull or pitbull mix or type so why did they take him in the first place? There is something seriously wrong with Belfast. People are very angry with what they did to Lennox and they will never visit Belfast. Seriously, Belfast you lose big time, you should have saved Lennox!!! RIP sweetie Lennox!

Like many other people here, I am lost for words about the injustice of this, and yet there is so much to say. I am a stranger and yet I have cried for Lennox so often in the past year, when I first heard his story. I feel sick for the suffering he endured, and I pray above all that he is at peace now, that his family can find some peace, and that those who did this to him get what is due to them.

I am sick at heart that this horrible cruelty was imposed upon a completely innocent loving dog,and his responsible dog-owner family.
The world should be in an outrage over this! Not just animal lovers, but all human beings should see the injust cruelty here and should be appauled. How can any community now say that BSlaws 'protect' people. It makes me sick.
