Goodbye Prince
I've just heard the very sad news that Prince has lost his battle with cancer. Here's an extract from Graham's blog of yesterday:
"Prince was put to sleep earlier today. He'd had enough. He was so uncomfortable because of his cystitis that he couldn't lie down or sleep properly. He was terribly lame. He'd also started to get some unpleasant side effects from the Epirubicin that he had on Wednesday - he was depressed, and the most significant message of all - he wouldn't eat.
Yes, he could have been hospitalised and fed via a drip. He's been through enough though, and I knew he didn't want to go through any more.
I feel like my heart has been ripped from my body. I'm scared of life without him physically being here. But I know he'll always be with me on a higher level, and I get a huge amount of comfort from that."

He dedicated himself to Prince's battle, giving up his job - the void that Prince now leaves is almost unimaginable.
I'm sure Prince knew how much he was loved and how hard it was for Graham to take the brave decision to let him go.
He couldn't have fought any harder to save him.

So sorry for the loss of Prince, I totally understand what you are going through. Hugs.
I'm so very sorry to hear about your loss. I've heard nasal cancer is often really rapid and hard to treat, so even if you had got a diagnosis sooner, it may not have bought any more time. We're getting quite a few sad emails direct at the magazine from other people who have recently lost their beloved dogs to cancer.
If you would like to write an obituary and send us a photo, it may help to get something down on paper. Sometimes it helps others, too to realise they are not alone in their feelings of loss.
There is more of an infrastructure when you lose a human relative - more things to busy yourself with. The impact of losing a pet can sometimes not been fully appreciated by those who have never been through the same thing.

Thanks, sorry have just seen your response. I may be tempted to do an obituary for him, we still iss him so much. It was quick thankfully,2 weeks before he had been leaping on and off a canal boat and playing on the towpath. Thanks Beverley.
Hope Graham is coming to terms with his loss too.
